Chip-and-pin credit cards (the kind that let you use vending machines to buy Metro tickets, rent bikes and just about everything else) have finally made it to America

Though only available for members of the United Nations Federal Credit Union, we're hopeful that other banks will someday soon follow suit. One day, vélo bikes, we'll ride you, mark our words!

Guest editor Jane Feltes did an inspiring job writing up Beruit as a Trip Pick, and while we've never been, it's top on our list of places to go - especially because we hear the food is fantastic. Check out the best of the off-the-beaten path attractions with Gadling.

It's inspiring, then, to read about Don Ritchie, a well-traveled man who lives across the street and has saved 160 would-be jumpers.
