Favorite Jaunt: Westhampton/ Quogue for (summer and winter) beach trips; Cochecton, NY for swimming, hiking, fishing, cooking woodsy weekends!

Dream Getaway: Belize. My friend Jaime was there recently and snorkeled with a manatee! That's pretty much all I want out of life.

Last Vacation: A wedding turned into an excuse for a road trip: from Seattle to Denman Island (a tiny island between Vancouver and Vancouver Island, BC, with 1,000 residents); through the Olympic National Park and down to Portland.

Worst Travel Experience: Discovering that a travel agent had made a grave mistake and issued two Eurail passes to my travel companion, leaving me with an invalid rail ticket and not enough money to buy a new pass. I never got caught, but each time we handed over our rail pass and passport to a conductor on an overnight train, I thought I was going to be booted off in Slovakia!

In My Carry-on: A good book, a trashy magazine, headphones, lip balm, notebook and pens.

Pre-flight Routine: Red wine. That's an in-flight routine too!
